None! Our Girls Only courses welcome complete beginners through intermediate sailors. The only requirement is being ready for adventure and open to making new friends.

Our Girls Only curriculum covers the same internationally recognized certifications as our mixed courses - because there's nothing "lite" about learning to sail as a woman. You'll master the full skillset with instructors who understand your journey.
All certifications issued by the American Sailing Association (ASA)

“I almost didn't book because I was nervous about going alone. Now I'm so glad I did. The energy among the women was incredible - supportive, fun, and genuinely empowering. By day three, I was confidently helming through the Greek islands. I've never felt so capable.”
“We've done wine tours, spa weekends, you name it. Nothing compares to this. Learning something challenging together, actually accomplishing it, and having gorgeous islands as our backdrop? Best trip we've ever taken. We're already planning our next one.”
“After my divorce, I needed to prove to myself I could do hard things alone. This trip delivered beyond my expectations. The female instructors were so encouraging, and the other women became genuine friends. I left feeling like I'd reclaimed a part of myself.”
“As a woman in tech, I'm used to being outnumbered. It was refreshing to learn something new surrounded by other women. No mansplaining, no talking over each other - just pure support and shared excitement. I'm now planning a Croatia trip with three women I met on the boat!”

Everything you need to know about joining a Girls Only sailing trip - what to pack, how to prepare, what to expect, and tips from women who've done it.
What's inside:
Yes! Our Girls Only courses are exclusively for women, including our instructor team. This creates a uniquely supportive environment where women often feel more comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking on leadership roles.
We welcome all women, regardless of how you identify. Our boats are safe, inclusive spaces.
Absolutely. Our Girls Only courses feature all-female instructor teams. These are experienced ASA-certified captains who are passionate about bringing more women into sailing. They've navigated oceans and built careers in a traditionally male-dominated field - they have incredible stories and wisdom to share.
Many of our instructors specifically joined Sailing Virgins because of our commitment to empowering women in sailing.
No experience needed! Most women on our Girls Only courses are complete beginners. The course is designed to take you from zero to certified sailor in one week.
If you do have some experience, you'll still benefit - many returning sailors choose Girls Only trips for the unique camaraderie and to polish their skills in a supportive setting.
We love friend groups! Many of our Girls Only trips include groups of 2-4 friends who book together. You can request cabin assignments to stay close.
That said, solo travelers are incredibly welcome - about 60% of our participants come alone and leave with a whole new squad. It's one of the best parts of the experience.
Safety is paramount. You'll be with a group of women and experienced female instructors at all times. We sail in well-traveled, safe sailing destinations with established infrastructure.
Many women tell us they feel safer on our trips than on any other vacation because you're never truly alone - you have your crew.
We see women from 25 to 70+ on our Girls Only courses! The beauty of sailing is that it's not about physical strength - it's about technique, teamwork, and confidence.
You'll be surprised how well different generations connect over shared adventures. Some of the most meaningful friendships form between women decades apart in age.
Our Girls Only courses run in:
- **BVI (British Virgin Islands)** - Calm, protected waters perfect for beginners
- **Croatia** - Stunning Mediterranean islands and historic towns
- **Greece** - Crystal-clear Aegean waters and island-hopping adventures
Each destination offers something unique, but all provide ideal conditions for learning and incredible experiences.
