Ever faced strong winds, shifting currents, and the open ocean without an experienced skipper at your side? The ASA 106 Sailing Course teaches you how to handle a yacht like a pro, no matter the conditions.
Students gain the ability, skills, and certification to navigate coastal and inland waters safely, tackle overnight passages, and handle heavy weather conditions.
Take your sailing to the next level by earning ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation) and ASA 106 (Advanced Coastal Cruising). If you choose a catamaran course, you can also complete ASA 114, if you don’t have it yet. These certifications will equip you with the skills to safely skipper or crew a 30- to 50-foot vessel in coastal and inland waters in all conditions.
Once you've completed ASA 106, you're ready to step into the professional sailing world by joining one of our instructor courses with Sailing Virgins.
*ASA 104 is required, if you still need this certificate, please check out our Intermediate Level Courses.

ASA 106 is the pinnacle of advanced coastal cruising. This is not a beginner’s class. ASA 106 wraps up the Advanced Sailing Courses. It’s for sailors who’ve already completed ASA 104 and are ready to take charge of a cruising yacht in real-world conditions.
Here is what you will master:
Manage strong winds, reefing, and sail changes.
Navigate using radar, lights, and sound signals in low visibility.
Plot long-distance routes and adjust for wind, current, and tides.
Handle challenging anchorages and docking scenarios.
Learn to sail without GPS if needed.
Take charge and make tactical decisions under pressure.
You will also complete ASA 105 (Coastal Navigation), and if your course is held on a catamaran, you may earn the ASA 114 (Catamaran Cruising) endorsement as well.
This is not a sightseeing trip. It is for sailors who want to push their limits, refine their skills, and gain true independence on the water.
This course is for you if:
