Bring your own foul-weather gear
Sailing Virgins doesn't provide foul-weather gear, so buy it before you leave home.
Puerto Montt has a Decathlon if you need a last-minute rain jacket, but don't count on finding full sailing gear there.
Layers are everything
Summer air temperatures run 10-20°C (50-68°F) and the water is 10-15°C (50-59°F). Conditions change by the hour, so pack a base layer, a warm mid layer and a waterproof outer layer.
“Leave all cotton at home. Seriously. Wool and synthetics only.” Captain Adam
What NOT to Bring

Cotton Anything

✗
A Light Rain Jacket Instead of Foul-Weather Gear
Spray and rain here need proper waterproof sailing gear.
✗
A Tropical Wardrobe
Shorts and t-shirts will stay in your bag. This isn't Caribbean sailing.
✗
