What offshore and passage-making courses can look like

Offshore courses can be run on our chosen boat or yours. We cover passage planning, watch systems, weather routing, safety equipment, and heavy-weather preparedness. Duration and location depend on your goals — a coastal passage, an ocean crossing, or a leg of a circumnavigation.

For owners planning or already undertaking an around-the-world trip, we can join for specific legs and deliver structured instruction and qualified watchkeeping. This is ideal for crews who want to level up while covering real miles.

Why consider offshore training or a collaboration

Coastal certifications get you into the game; offshore training builds confidence and competence for longer passages and open water.

Own-boat instruction means you learn on the boat you’ll actually sail, with systems and routines that match your voyage.

Collaborations let boat owners add a professional instructor and structured training to a leg of their journey — whether that’s a transatlantic, a Pacific crossing, or another segment of a bigger dream.

What Do You Need to Know About Sailing in Offshore Courses?

Do you run scheduled offshore courses?

Our offshore and passage-making offerings are arranged by date and boat. We don’t publish fixed offshore dates like our BVI or Croatia courses. Get in touch to discuss your goals and possible windows.

Can I use my own boat?

Yes. We can design an offshore or passage-making programme on your boat, tailored to your itinerary and experience level.

What about around-the-world or long-distance collaborations?

We work with owners on selected legs of long-distance voyages — e.g. joining for a specific ocean passage or segment. Reach out with your route and dates to explore options.

What experience do I need?

Solid coastal cruising (e.g. ASA 104 or equivalent) is typically the baseline. For pure offshore passages, some overnight or passage experience is helpful. We’ll discuss your background when you get in touch.
