Everything you need to know about ASA 101 through 106. Interactive tools, cost breakdowns, and a personalized recommendation engine to find your perfect certification path.
The American Sailing Association (ASA) is the largest sailing education organization in the United States, with over 400 affiliated schools and more than 1 million certified sailors worldwide. ASA certifications are the gold standard for recreational sailing competency.
The certification system is progressive: each level builds on the skills from the previous one. Most charter companies worldwide require ASA 104 (Bareboat Chartering) to rent a yacht without hiring a professional captain. This means with just two weeks of training, you can sail independently anywhere in the world.
At Sailing Virgins, we bundle ASA certifications in pairs — so you earn two certifications per week, learning in paradise destinations like the British Virgin Islands, Croatia, and Greece instead of a classroom.
Click any certification to explore what you will learn, prerequisites, and where it leads. Courses are bundled in pairs for one-week intensives.
Answer a few questions and we will recommend your ideal certification path.
