At Sailing Virgins our mantra is that sailing lessons should be awesome. Rather than have a set of strangers from different generations and a salty, cranky instructor yelling at you, our whole ethos is to create one of the best weeks of our students’ lives.
Our sailing classes happen on live-aboard sailing yachts in places that we regard as the best sailing destinations in the world. Whether it is the Caribbean, Croatia or Tahiti, if you are going to level up your sailing game, you may as well do it in a place that has perfect weather, warm water and with great people.
If you are new to the sport a beginner sailing course will introduce you to the fundamentals of sailing. If you have some experience but need to improve your skills and gain a qualification to sail your own boat, you can look at an intermediate-level captain course. For experienced sailors looking to work in the industry or sail offshore, look at one of our advanced-level courses, including the Island Adventure.
Island Adventure courses are a unique program that involves sailing between islands in the Caribbean. For anyone wishing to gain advanced-level skills or simply have an amazing adventure, these week-long fast track courses incorporate night sailing, foul-weather sailing and dealing with customs/immigration between different countries. Naturally COVID-19 has put a brake on our ability to run Island Adventure courses, but once it settles down we will be back on! The courses typically are offered in June/July and October/November each year.
If you are interested in a catamaran course, we run them in the Virgin Islands (November – July, Christmas tends to offer the best wind), Croatia (August and September) and Tahiti (November). Our catamaran courses are taught on new, comfortable boats, and have a student-instructor ratio that offers you plenty of helm-time.
