BVI’s are open baby!
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic international travel has become more complicated. The good news is that traveling to the BVIs is much easier than you think, especially if you are vaccinated. As regulations constantly change we will leave you some links to check out so you are always up to date. Here is the link to the BVI Travel Protocols. Please read it carefully before your travel so you make sure to comply with the regulations and will have a smooth start to your adventure. It is also a good idea to be familiar with the Covid regulations for the USVIs as you will probably get to the BVIs via STT. Here is a link to get started on the requirements for the USVIs.
How do I get into the BVI?
You can take a ferry (see above) or fly into Tortola direct; the airport is the omnivorously named Beef Island (EIS)
The following airlines are flying to the island from St. Thomas or Puerto Rico:
If your fly to St Thomas (STT) you can also take a ferry to Tortola. The following ferry companies are currently operating on the route:
Can you recommend a travel agent who can help?
Certainly! Email: [email protected] com
Do I need COVID insurance?
Yes. All eligible travellers arriving in the British Virgin Islands need to obtain Medical/Travel Assistance or Insurance with COVID-19 cover before entry. Check out https://www.auraassistance.com/bvi/
Are there taxis at the airport?
Yes. On arrival and after testing, you will be directed to an authorised taxi that will take you to your boat. This is just like normal times; the cost of the taxi is a government-set rate and is at your own expense.
Do I need a Covid test to exit?
Yes. The US requires the test 2 days before arrival. You can do it in Virgin Gorda, Tortola and Jost van Dyke. You will need to book an appointment.
For all customers travelling home from the BVI via St. Thomas (airport code STT, in the U.S. Virgin Islands), all travellers will need to provide a negative rapid antigen or PCR test (or antibody test results) within 48 hours of arriving in St Thomas.
Can I exit the BVI by boat?
Yes, you can however only via private water taxi. If you plan to depart the BVI via private water taxi to the USVI, a request must be submitted at least 72 hours prior to your departure. Plan ahead for an easy and stress-free departure.
